Birth is not only about making babies.
Birth is about making mothers - strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength
— Barbara Katz Rothman

Hi there, and welcome.

My name is Carmen and I love birth. More than that, I love supporting women and partners to have a positive birth experience because I believe it makes all the difference. When we emerge from birth with that feeling of ‘wow, I did that, I can do anything,’ we enter motherhood feeling strong and confident in ourselves.

As a birth educator and doula, my aim is for women to approach birth feeling informed, supported and in awe of their body’s innate capacity for birth.

Birth works. Women are incredible, and I’m passionate about working with you towards a normal physiological labour and birth, reducing fear and helping you prepare emotionally and practically so you feel strong and confident, ready to embrace the challenge.

During labour I work seamlessly alongside your loved ones and care providers to help you have the most satisfying experience possible, however your journey unfolds.

Thanks for stopping by, I can’t wait to meet you.

BIRTH DOULA

As a birth doula, I provide emotional, physical and informational support to women and their partners during pregnancy, labour and birth. My mission is to help you have a safe and satisfying birth experience where you feel heard and supported.

I work with you during pregnancy to prepare emotionally and plan for the kind of birth experience you want, providing access to evidence-based information so you feel empowered to ask questions and make decisions.

I stay with you from the start of labour until your baby is in your arms, drawing on my knowledge and experience to provide emotional support and physical comfort, helping with relaxation, massage, suggestions for positioning and more.

ABOUT CARMEN

Mother of three, maker of salads, baker of sourdough, full-time birth passionista and - like most mums - all-round multi-tasking extraordinaire, I’m at my best when the kids are busy and the fridge is full.

As a trained journalist, I worked in newspapers and corporate communications before having my first baby eight years ago. Since then I’ve been living all things birth and early mothering, and have realised how we feel about our birth experience has a huge impact on our start to motherhood.

I am a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and have trained with DONA International, the first and largest doula training organisation.

I am continually blown away by what women can do and fervently believe pregnancy, birth and early mothering can teach us important lessons about ourselves if we choose to listen.
